Margot Otto, PhD
Junior Researcher
Margot Otto is currently a Junior Researcher at SACEMA, specializing in HIV transmission dynamics and viral load trajectories. With a PhD in Microbiology from the University of Pretoria (2014-2018), her work integrates phylogenetics and genomics with epidemiological data to inform strategies for HIV prevention. Under the guidance of Frank Tanser, she explores HIV transmission patterns in high-incidence rural South African cohorts, focusing on the impact of demographic factors and ART. Before joining SACEMA, she spent over three years as the senior bioinformatician at Eszterházy Károly University in Hungary. Margot Otto is also deeply committed to mentoring students and continuously expanding her expertise in bioinformatics and biostatistics.
