Wilfred Otambo, PhD

Postdoctoral Fellow

Wilfred Ouma Otambo is an epidemiologist, entomologist, and data scientist whose work focuses on the transmission dynamics and control of HIV, malaria, and arboviruses, particularly in the context of climate change in sub-Saharan Africa. He holds a PhD in Applied Parasitology and Vector Biology has extensive experience in disease surveillance, statistical modeling, and public health intervention design.

His work spans vector biology, epidemiology, and environmental determinants of health, with a focus on sub-Saharan Africa. His research integrates entomological surveillance, epidemiology, and community-based interventions to inform disease control strategies. Wilfred contributes substantively to tackling infectious disease threats exacerbated by climate change, with recent expansions into the application of real-time climate sensors for vector control and outbreak prediction.
